The Triboro Ecodistrict and Artspiration are excited to announce a Call for Artists for a hyperlocal exhibition in partnership with Contemporary Craft’s 2023 Climate Awakening Project: Crafting a Sustainable Future. Our exhibit will provide a forum for local artists to share their powerful artistic responses to this public health concern, as a way to initiate conversation and encourage social change. The exhibition will be open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, between November 4 through 18, 2023, with a Private Opening reception to be held Friday, November 3, 2023, at The Maple Leaf, 115 Sedgwick Street in Millvale.
The hyperlocal exhibition, for which this Call for Artists is made, will feature the works of artists from the Triboro and their responses to the larger project's theme and goals. Artists should consider the following questions when planning their artistic work: What role can art play in addressing public health concerns related to climate change? And, how can art be used to initiate conversation and encourage social change related to solving our climate crisis? Proposed artwork should also consider the direct impact of the climate crisis on the rivertown communities of Millvale, Etna, and Sharpsburg.
